I
have been involved with local football
for most of my life and have supported
STFC on a regular basis since the 60's.
I have also been a
Football Secretary of a number of clubs,
starting with a Sunday side (Slough
18 Plus), and whilst in the Royal Navy,
the 5th Frigate Squadron and Joint Services
Northwood. I was full time secretary
of STFC on two separate occasions mostly
while STFC were in the Conference.
I qualified as a Royal
Navy Football Referee out in Malta,
and on our return to the UK officiaited
in Service Football. On leaving the
Royal Navy, I continued with Service
football albeit as a civilian. I was
also affiliated to the Berks & Bucks
FA and joined Slough & District
Referees Association.
I became heavily involved
with Slough Town Supporters Association
and this led to my refereeing, due to
the involvement with STFC, become a
minor role. I was Chairman of the STSA
for seven years, and I alaos became
a Member of the STFC management committee.
This was a very crucial time for STFC
as a decision had to be made whether
or not the Club proceeded with its application
to join the Conference. On winning the
Isthmian League Championship in 1990,
the club were promoted to the Conference,
and after resigning from the MOD, I
became a full time employee of STFC.
During my time as
Chairman of the STSA, I became Deputy
Chairman, and then later Acting Chairman
of the then Southern Division of the
National Federation of Football Supporters
Clubs. The NFFSC is now part of the
Football Supporters Federation (FSF),
and I attended, along with STSA colleagues,
the inaugural Annual Conference at Highbury
last year, and went to Walsall for this
years conference.
